英國重要的音樂獎項水星音樂獎（Mercury Prize）昨日公佈了入圍名單，十二位入圍者包括 Aphex Twin、Florence and the Machine、Jamie xx、 Róisín Murphy 等等，其中 Jamie xx 曾以樂團 The xx 身份，在 2010 年獲得過水星奬，他的《In Colour》也是今年的大熱專輯。另一位二度入圍者是 Ghostpoet，2011 年首張專輯之後，今年的《Shedding Skin》也榮獲提名。水星音樂獎是英國重要的音樂獎項，表揚對象是英國或愛爾蘭的年度最佳專輯，過去獲獎的專輯包括 Portishead 的《Dummy》、Pulp 的《Different Class》、Antony and the Johnsons 的《I Am a Bird Now》。這個獎也不只是表揚「獨立音樂」，Adele 的《21》也曾入圍過，可當年敗給了 PJ Harvey 註定名留青史的經典專輯《Let England Shake》。
而 Radiohead 與 PJ Harvey，則是並列入圍最多次水星音樂獎的音樂人，皆被提名過四次。但前者從未贏得水星獎，後者則空前地拿了兩座！1997 年《OK Computer》敗給 Roni Size/Reprazent；2001 年《Amnesiac》敗給 PJ Harvey；2003 年《Hail To The Thie》敗給Dizzee Rascal，而第四次是在 2008 年獲得入圍提名的專輯《In Rainbow》，評論雖看好，最終仍敗給了 Elbow。
