當馬路不再是馬路，以道路形成的傳統市場，散佈在台北市各個街道。在面對超級市場、量販店到現代網路購物買賣日常用品，購買方式從以前的以物易物到現在無形資源的交換，我們該如何面對傳統市場的沒落，找出他得以保留的新型態。

在歷史及時間堆砌成長達100公尺長的華榮街上，傳統街屋以自然的意識發展成封閉的市場生態圈。我試圖在這不管是形式或形態已經深根柢固的複雜架構下，找出對內也對外的手法，企圖延續它更好的樣貌。

在改變環境卻本質不變的前提之下，老舊棚架的拆除，新鋼構的架高，讓光柔和的進入市場。架高的平台是城市的綠園居民的大廚房已形成光合；人和人相遇的跑道，平凡實用的自助洗衣店、食堂、影視租賃店和吊在半空中的小茶屋造就了市井，找出了能延續傳統市場生命的原型，創造城市的新介面。

When the purpose of a road is more than facilitating travellers, road side markets scattered in Taipei city. New forms of markets emerged super markets, wholesalers and net-markets. New forms of transactions exchange from objects to objects trading, monetary transactions, to digital payments. When traditional markets aged and lagged behind the modern society, how can we preserve the essence of traditional markets with a revised form?

The 100 meters long traditional street-house cluster, Hua-Rong street, was developed naturally by the inhabitants. The closed market ecosystem is gradually shaped with time and captures history. I try to find methods to cut through the interwinded complex forms and atmospheres which are deep rooted in the community, and to rejuvenate the old market so that its existence can continue with a better form to the general public.

Under the premise that we shall not modify the essence, old scaffolding are replaced with new elevated steel, so that the tender light can breeze through the market. The green garden on top of the platform fuses with the kitchen of the inhabitants seamlessly. People encounter each other on the jogging track. Laundry shop, community diners, DVD rentals, cater the practical needs of the community. Facilities above and the tea house up in the air create a market space for living. We propose a prototype to inject new life to traditional markets and create a new interface for the city.
